Nora Gregor se je rodila v nemško govoreči družini leta 1901 v Gorici, ki je bila tedaj v Avstro-Ogrski. Po koncu prve svetovne vojne, ko je mesto pripadlo Italiji, se je morala Norina družina preseliti v avstrijski Gradec. Leta 1920 je Nora debitirala v gledališču na Dunaju. Kmalu je postala ena najslavnejših in najbolj iskanih igralk svojega časa. Bila je zvezda dunajskega Burgtheatra, igrala je v Berlinu in Parizu, sodelovala z največjimi režiserji tedanjega časa – z Maxom Reinha
