The title, inspired by Ava DuVernay’s miniseries “When They See Us,” signifies a shift towards Black perspectives. Curated by Koyo Kouoh and Tandazani Dhlakama, the exhibition is organized into six thematic chapters, exploring universal themes like joy, spirituality, and everyday life. It reveals iconographic parallels among geographically diverse Black artists. The exhibition includes a comprehensive program of events and features sound stations curated by Neo Muyanga, providing visitors with a rich, contextual experience of Black joy and resilience.
