A chronically ill student took her first steps in 10 years - to accept her awards for excellence at graduation. <br/><br/>Melika Ghanaati, now 19, hasn't been able to walk unaided since 2013 due to four debilitating medical conditions. <br/><br/>She was born with a severe form of scoliosis - a curved spine - as well as congenital myopathy, a disorder which has caused weakness in her muscles. <br/><br/>Growing up, she either used a walker or a wheelchair - and has needed various surgeries to correct her curved spine. <br/><br/>But after a year of intensive physiotherapy, Melika was able to walk up to her teacher unaided and receive her high school diploma, as well as two awards for excellence. <br/><br/>Melika, who is now a student at York University, Canada, said: “This was such a special moment for me - my teachers and closest friends were worried about me, but I proved everyone wrong. <br/><br/>“I wanted to surprise everyone with the walk, but most importantly, I believed I owed it to myself.”<br/><br/>Melika was born with a number of conditions - including scoliosis, severe club feet, congenital myopathy and recurring kidney stones. <br/><br/>But her scoliosis and club feet were the biggest hurdles preventing her from being able to walk. <br/><br/>Up until the age of 13, Melika had a number of surgeries in an attempt to get the curve and club feet corrected. <br/><br/>She even briefly died in ICU after surgery at the age of 12. <br/><br/>She said: “Between the ages of 10 to 13 I had three spinal surgeries.<br/><br/>“I even had a code blue - I died for a few seconds. <br/><br/>“I lost a lot of blood flow and needed to have a blood transfusion.\

Noni Madueke had to be dragged away from referee Craig Pawson after Chelsea's 2-2 draw with Aston Villa on Saturday evening. <br/><br/>Madueke and his teammates thought they had secured a 96th-minute winner when Axel Disasi headed home from close range to make it 3-2 in their favor. <br/><br/>However, the goal was disallowed after a lengthy VAR check that saw Pawson consult the pitch-side monitor. <br/><br/>Pawson ruled the goal out after claiming Benoit Badiashile had shoved Diego Carlos in the back in the build-up to the goal. <br/><br/>Madueke was furious with the decision and wanted to make his feelings known after the final whistle at Villa Park. <br/><br/>Madueke stormed straight up to Pawson and began shouting in his face before being restrained by Chelsea coach Jesus Perez. <br/><br/>Madueke and Benoit Badiashile could reportedly be heard saying 'It's wrong, you know it's wrong. You know it. You know it!' while pointing at Pawson. <br/><br/>Disasi, who scored the disallowed last-gasp goal, tried to calm Madueke down by grabbing him and walking him away from the situation. <br/><br/>However, it was a little too late as Pawson was less than impressed with Madueke's behavior and awarded him a yellow card before speaking to Cole Palmer. <br/><br/>Palmer appeared to plead with Pawson before being escorted away by Chelsea's backroom staff.<br/><br/>Once tensions had settled, Madueke was asked about the 96th-minute goal. Nothing else to say about the situation.'<br/><br/>Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino was equally as unimpressed and said VAR is 'damaging English football' after his side were denied the injury-time winner. <br/><br/>'Everyone that was watching the game will feel disappointed,' Pochettino said on TNT Sports after the game. <br/><br/>'Two different things the referee said it was a foul and disallowed the goal and then went to the VAR to confirm.<br/><br/>'The referee is unbelievable and it's ridiculous. It is difficult to accept, these types of things in the semi-final [FA Cup against Man City] two weeks ago it was handball and there was no penalty, the referee didn't check it.<br/><br/>'It is painful as it has damaged English football and I think Villa players and their fans didn't understand why the goal was disallowed.<br/><br/>'They said it was foul and if you see the challenge what happened if we go into every single challenge like this it is going to be a foul and we wouldn't finish the game with 11 [players].<br/><br/>'We can talk about the performance or the decision - it is damaging the game. I am calm and it is only to help. Now, we have to move on and it will be in the headlines with the disallowed goal.'<br/><br/>It had seemed like it was going to be another night to forget as Marc Cucurella's own goal and a Morgan Rogers strike put Villa 2-0 up at the break. <br/><br/>But Chelsea responded well and drew level through Noni Madueke and Conor Gallagher before the injury-time drama.

John Phagan-Durham told Sears he would not make corrections because he was confident that the series had made the front page and corrections would not make it to the front page. The series renewed interest in the assassination of Little Mary Phagan and its aftermath. People wanted to know more about the trial and the lynching, and whether anyone from Phagan was involved in the lynching. Alonzo Mann became more eloquent about the incident. Bernard and the narrator had never heard of young Mary Phagan, but one night Bernard told them that a girl named after the narrator had been murdered. The narrator tells him what happened and why the Phagan family has remained silent. Bernard and the narrator drive to Marietta to visit Mary's grave. The cemetery was located in a wealthy area of the cemetery and had a marble headstone bearing her name and an inscription written by Tom Watson. The narrator quickly memorized the inscription and took a picture of Maria for scrapbooking. A middle-aged couple approached the narrator and asked if he knew where Little Mary Phagan's grave was. The narrator meets a woman who is blind and deaf and needs help filling out her form. She asked the narrator if they were related to Little Mary Phagan, and the narrator filled out her paperwork and read it through her magnifying glass. The woman then asked the narrator if she was related to Little Mary Phagan, to which she replied that the narrator was. Her wife then told the narrator about her life at the time and the changes she had undergone in her 92 years. The narrator had a great time and was invited to lunch with the lady. Her lady found the narrator listening to herself carefully, and the next day the narrator again received an invitation to lunch.<br/><br/>
